How to Use JAMB CAPS to Check & Accept Admission 2025
The Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is an online system developed by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to automate the admission process into Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics, Innovative Enterprise Institutions (IEIs), Colleges of Nursing Sciences, Colleges of Education, Schools of Health Technology, and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
After UTME and Post-UTME/Result Screening (depending on your institution of choice), candidates can proceed to check the JAMB CAPS portal regularly to monitor their admission status.
Once you ACCEPT an admission on the JAMB CAPS portal, you’re no longer in the admission pool, while REJECTING an offer signifies you’re not interested in the offer but wish to stay in the admission pool for another institution to consider you.
How to Monitor or Check Your Admission Status on JAMB CAPS
- Go to JAMB e-facility efacility.jamb.gov.ng.
- Enter your email and password in the required columns, then sign in.
- Click Check Admission Status.
- Pick your exam year, enter your JAMB number.
- Click Access my CAPS.
- Tap Admission Status.
If you’re accessing JAMB CAPS via your mobile device, you might be seeing a blank/welcome page when you reach the step 5 above. If all you see is a blank or welcome page, use a Google Chrome browser, and then switch to desktop view (you can achieve that by clicking on the three dots top-right of your browser).
If you’ve been offered admission, you’ll see Accept and Reject. If not, the buttons stay grey.
If admitted and you wish to accept, simply send ACCEPT or REJECT to 55019 or 66019 via SMS using the same phone number you used during JAMB registration. After sending the message, return to the JAMB CAPS portal to confirm your choice has been recorded.
Once you’ve accepted the admission, login to the JAMB portal to print your JAMB Admission Letter (both the candidate’s and the institution’s copy).
Trasfer on JAMB CAPS
Sometimes, your institution of choice might decide to offer you another course other than the one you applied for due to UTME and O’Level combinations. To accept or reject transfer to a new course, follow the steps outlined below:
- Sign in to CAPS.
- Click Transfer Approval.
- Choose to accept or reject.
Advice for Candidates yet to be Admitted on JAMB CAPS
If you’re monitoring your admission on CAPS and noticed you’re yet to be offered admission, make sure your O/Level result has been uploaded on the JAMB Portal, especially those who registered with awaiting results. Direct Entry candidates, including JUPEB students, should also upload their A-level and O-level results to avoid disqualification. This is to enable the admission officers at their institution of choice to determine their qualifications for admission.
